Even though the Spartan season is temporarily on hold, we’re still giving you a way to race. Together, we are UNBREAKABLE!

For every event we postpone, we’ll hold a Spartan Virtual Race - same weekend, same distance, same obstacle count. These events are FREE and open to all worldwide, all you need to do is register.

Each Virtual Race consists of an outdoor run or indoor running equivalent (e.g. cycling, skipping, step-ups etc.) and obstacles. Instead of cargo nets and barbed wire, you’ll take on push-ups, mountain climbers and more to finish. Earn a leaderboard spot, virtual medal, certificate and above all, unlimited bragging rights.

VIRTUAL RACE INSTRUCTIONS

The Spartan Virtual Sprint consists of a 5K run or equivalent, and the following 20 obstacles:

  • 10 pushups
  • 10 burpees
  • 10 mountain climbers (per side)
  • 10 jumping jacks

  • 10 forward lunges (per side)
  • 10 Plyo Push-Ups

Limited to the first 100 entries. 18+ only. 4 hour endurance challenge conducted via Zoom on Saturday 12th July at 16:00. All participants will receive detailed information prior to the event.

  • Treadmill
    Distance requirements are the same as running or walking outside/inside.
  • Bike/Stationary Bike/Peloton/Spin Bike
    Run distance multiplied by 4. For example, a 5K run would be a 20K ride.
  • Rowing Machine / Kayak
    Run distance multiplied by 1.2. For example, a 5K run would be 6K (6000 m) of rowing.
  • Ski Erg
    Run distance multiplied by 1.2. For example, a 5K run would be 6K (6000 m) on a ski erg machine.
  • Jump Rope
    Distance is repetition-based. For Sprint, 2000 jumps. For Super, 4000 jumps. For Beast, 8000 jumps.
  • Stair Climb/Step Machine/Step Ups
    Distance is repetition based. For Sprint, 2000 steps. For Super, 4000 steps. For Beast, 8000 steps.
  • Swim
    For Sprint, 1 mile (1600 m) swim. For Super, 1.5 mile (2400 m) swim. For Beast, 3.2 mile (5200 m) swim.
  • Bear Crawl
    Run distance divided by 3. For example, a 5K run would be a 1 mile (1600 m) crawl.
  • Lateral Bounds/Ice Skaters
    Each distance is repetition based. For Sprint, 1000 bounds (500 per side). For Super, 2000 bounds (1000 per side). For Beast, 4000 bounds (2000 per side).

KIDS RACE INSTRUCTIONS

The following alternate exercises for running are available to all competitors who are currently unable to run outside:

  • Instead of a ½-mile run, do 20 air squats, 20 jumping jacks, 20 high knees
  • Instead of a 1-mile run, do 20 mountain climbers (per side), 20 tuck jumps, 20 burpees
  • Instead of a 2-mile run, do 2 rounds of 20 burpees, 20 hands-off push ups, 20 ice-skaters (per side)

The Spartan Virtual Kids Half-Mile consists of a ½-mile walk or run and the following 10 obstacles:

  • 10 foot bear crawl
  • 10 sit-ups
  • 1 target throw (from 6 feet away, toss a ball or anything you have at any target)
  • 10 alternating toe touches
  • 10 foot egg-and-spoon carry
  • 10 broad jumps
  • 10 pillow case/sack jumps
  • 10-second jog in place
  • 10 foot heavy item carry (eg. gallon bucket, laundry basket)
  • 10 foot crab walk

The Spartan Virtual Kids 1-Mile race consists of a 1-mile walk or run and the following 15 obstacles:

  • 10 foot bear crawl
  • 10 sit-ups
  • 1 target throw (from 6 feet away, toss a ball or anything you have at any target)

To submit your Spartan Virtual Race, you must do the following:

1. Sign up to the FREE challenge

2. Complete your Spartan Virtual Race and post proof that you finished on social media (video, photo, GPS tracker, Strava activity, or other proof). Tag @spartanraceuk or @spartankidsraceuk and use your event’s corresponding location and distance hashtag. For example, Sprint finishers should tag #SpartanMidlandsVirtualSprint, Super finishers #SpartanMidlandsVirtualSuper, Beast #SpartanMidlandsVirtualBeast, Kids #SpartanMidlandsVirtualKids, Trail #SpartanMidlandsVirtualTrail, Hurricane Heat #SpartanMidlandsVirtualHH

3. Submit your completed race information to the form below. Your time needs to include the cardio and obstacle total duration (or just cardio for Trail.) This needs to be done by Sunday 12th July 11:59 PM.

After that, you’ll earn a virtual medal, certificate and your spot on the leaderboard!
